Spring/Summer recap

I feel like most of my posts begin with an explanation as to why I haven’t posted for a while. And here we are again. I think I’ll bypass a lengthy explanation and just say, it was summertime with a 2 year old. I was busy. That being said, the renewal for my site is coming up and I have been debating whether to keep it or not. I know most of you lovely readers are my family, and I enjoy that you take the time to read my ramblings. I just wasn’t sure if it was worth keeping if I’m only going to post twice a year. But fear not, loyal reader, for I have decided to keep it going and try my best to post more and keep in interesting. This will just be a quick update on our summer and where life is at now.

Like the rest of the world, this summer was a bit different for us. We had plans to go to Canada for my best friend’s wedding, which was delayed. I had the idea to go to Georgia to visit my other best friend this fall, which didn’t happen. I even thought we might try and squeeze in another trip to Mexico this winter. Basically, I thought this was going to be a busy travel year. But you all know that didn’t happen. Instead, we mostly stayed in our own area and explored the beauty of it. We obviously love to travel and see new places, but the nice thing about our home is that it’s actually a tourist destination. (I say nice with a bit of reservation because living in a tourist destination kind of makes you loathe tourists). Anyways we got to experience spring in Moab without all the tourists and I must say, we kind of loved it! We were able to go hiking to some of the popular trails without being surrounded by people, town was quieter and we were able to enjoy our town. We ordered to go from some of our favorite local places who weren’t able to have the dining rooms open. I got to go grocery shopping alone, which I now insist on. We spent time gardening and doing home projects. Basically, we did our best to make the most of staying home and I like to think we did a pretty good job.

A little update on Oliver. He is such an awesome 2 year old who has stayed out of diapers practically since he turned 2. We have had very few accidents and I am just so proud of him. He is 2 though so we are right in the throes of tantrums with “but why” being the generic answer for everything. He’s been rejecting naps for a few weeks, but I think they’re on their way back in style after his 3 hour nap today. He loves going on bike rides with his dad, both on his own balance bike and riding along with dad on his shotgun seat. He is becoming an awesome little hiker and constantly amazes me with how far he’ll go. He also loves the RZR, we recently did an all day ride and he wanted more when we were done. Basically he loves being outside. Winter terrifies me. I am not a winter/snow/cold person and the little outdoor lover I have raised is not going to be content inside for long.

In work life news. I am officially a stay at home mom now. I worked for the 2020 Census for about the first half of the year before I decided I was done with all the traveling I was doing. Around that time, Mauricio finished his degree and passed his ASCP exam which makes him an official, certified Medical Laboratory Technician. After so much hard work with him in school and working full time, it has been so nice to have him only working now so we can enjoy his days off instead of focusing them on school. His schedule also recently switched to him working 3 days a week, so we get a full 4 days together as a family each week. It’s been an interesting transition for me to not work at all and for Mauricio to have less “work” to do each week, some days I feel like we don’t even know what to do with all our time. Overall, it’s very nice to have so much time as a family.

I think that mostly catches you all up on what is going on with us today. I mean it when I say I’m going to make a serious effort to post more, and I just may have some more exciting things on the way!
