Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park

While we spent most of our year pretty close to home. We did sneak in a few trips. One of those was to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park in Colorado. It’s a place that, despite only being about 3 hours from us, I hadn’t heard of until this year. Also, to be completely candid, I saw it on TikTok so take that for what it’s worth. I saw it and put it in my memory bank and saved it for a week when we wanted to go camping. Although we did some local exploring this year, we really didn’t get much camping in. Our first trip of the…

    Spring/Summer recap

I feel like most of my posts begin with an explanation as to why I haven’t posted for a while. And here we are again. I think I’ll bypass a lengthy explanation and just say, it was summertime with a 2 year old. I was busy. That being said, the renewal for my site is coming up and I have been debating whether to keep it or not. I know most of you lovely readers are my family, and I enjoy that you take the time to read my ramblings. I just wasn’t sure if it was worth keeping if I’m only going to post twice a year. But fear…

    Toilet training

You guys, something amazing happened recently in our house. I really hope I’m not jinxing anything by telling you all about it, but I’m way too excited to hold it in. Oliver is basically toilet trained! I want to share with you what I did leading up to this and how it’s going. Oliver just turned 2 and that was a time I had in my mind to get serious about toilet training. I am definitely not the kind of mom who wants their baby to stay in diaper so they stay a baby. I totally get why it’s hard for some parents to move their babies into big kid…

    Introducing Chores to a Toddler

As all the craziness of the current pandemic spirals around us, we are all finding ourselves home a whole lot more. Myself included. The bit of work I was doing significantly slowed, and then came to a stop for a while, and we’re supposed to be social distancing and staying home anyways. Since Mauricio works in the healthcare industry, his work hasn’t slowed one bit which means it’s me and Oliver all day every day at home. This is what I live for. I love being home with Oliver. I was enjoying the bit of work I was doing, but in the last couple weeks of being home a lot…

    Malaga, Spain

Okay, now we’re going to get into the good stuff about our honeymoon cruise. If you missed the nitty gritty about what it means to win a honeymoon check that out here. To recap, we won a cruise that left from Malaga, Spain and ended in the Canary Islands on a sail powered cruise line. I’m going to break our trip down into a few posts so it doesn’t get too crazy to read all at once. In this post I’m just going to cover Malaga, Spain and the cruise ship itself, since that’s where it all started. Then I’ll do the actual sailing & Morocco and finally, the Canary…

Flying with a (not so) lap infant

So we recently tackled a major travel journey with our almost 2 year old. We flew to Mexico. With Oliver. As a lap infant. Meaning he didn’t have his own seat on the plane, he was just on our laps. Just like it sounds right? We had done this once before with Oliver, when he was 3 months old. No big deal. This trip he was 20 months old. Big deal.  For those of you who don’t have kids and just enjoy reading mom blogs. Or for those of you who have never flown with a young child, let me fill you in. If they’re under 2 years old airlines…

    2019 Reflection. 2020 Goals.

It’s a new year! If you were with me last year, you might recall that I’m not a huge believer in “New Year’s Resolutions”. But I do take the new year as an opportunity to reflect back on the year and see if there is anything I would like to change in the upcoming year.  For 2019 I had two goals, become less technology dependent and less wasteful. Overall I think I did alright on those goals. In the summer months I was definitely on my phone way less. I took in the day around me and wasn’t constantly checking my phone all day. But as it got colder and …

    Mexico for Christmas

This year we did Christmas a little different. Mauricio and I had talked about it many times before, but this year we actually gifted ourselves a vacation for Christmas. We had two invitations to go to the same area on the same week in Mexico, the week before Christmas. My best friend graduated nursing school and booked a vacation in Cozumel to celebrate and our niece decided she wanted to go on vacation in Cancun instead of doing a big quinceanera. It seemed like the absolute perfect opportunity. We decided to take them both up on their offers and do 3 days with each of them. We booked our rooms…

    Winning a Honeymoon

Four years ago when Mauricio and I got engaged and started wedding planning the most amazing thing happened and we won a honeymoon! Here’s how that went down. I was all over the internet looking at wedding ideas and such, as many newly engaged people are,  and I found weddingvibe.com. This site was chock full of giveaways. Everything from personalized napkins to wedding toppers to videographers. They had so many little giveaways going and every time you entered one you got another entry into their grand prize giveaway for a honeymoon. They did two honeymoon giveaways per year and this one was for a cruise. So you better believe I…

The times they are a changin’

You guys. I know I said more regular posts to come and then didn’t post for a few weeks. But this October was I think the most chaotic month I’ve ever had. I had a few major life changes occur and I just wanted to take a post and update you all on where life is right now. As some of you may know, or recall, my amazing husband is working full time and going to school. The goal is that once he graduates next year and moves into his new position, I’d be able to stay home full time with Oliver and not have to worry about adult things…
