    Dominican Republic/Iberostar

In my last post I promised you all a post about our vacation that we went on with the kids, so here it is! Our trip to the Dominican Republic was unlike any trip I’ve ever planned before. Typically when we go somewhere new we do an AirBnB and rent a car and I look up different places we might want to visit while we’re there. This time I booked us at an all inclusive hotel and made absolutely no plans to go anywhere else. So this post really isn’t going to be so much about the Dominican Republic, but more about the Iberostar Bavaro Selection Suites where we stayed.…

Flying with kids-Baby and Toddler Edition

We recently got up the courage to go on a plane with the kids. Four planes in fact. We had the plan that for our 30th birthdays we would each get to choose a vacation to go on. This year is my turn. However, my birthday is sandwiched right in between the kids, all three of us are in the same month. So I decided we could do my trip a bit early and get away from the winter cold. After searching around a bit I decided on the Dominican Republic. I wanted to do a trip where I didn’t have to plan any special activities, any meals or anything…

    (New) Mexico Road Trip

Last fall we did our first road trip as a family of four. I’ve been writing this post since then, 4 months later I’m finally done with it! This was our first trip since the world shut down, and we were pretty excited to get out and go somewhere after so long.    We went down to Mexico to visit Mauricio’s family and have them meet Genevieve. We’ve done this drive twice before, but this time we decided to make it a proper road trip and see all that we could of New Mexico instead of just cruising right on through it like we had before.  On the way down…

Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park

While we spent most of our year pretty close to home. We did sneak in a few trips. One of those was to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park in Colorado. It’s a place that, despite only being about 3 hours from us, I hadn’t heard of until this year. Also, to be completely candid, I saw it on TikTok so take that for what it’s worth. I saw it and put it in my memory bank and saved it for a week when we wanted to go camping. Although we did some local exploring this year, we really didn’t get much camping in. Our first trip of the…

    Malaga, Spain

Okay, now we’re going to get into the good stuff about our honeymoon cruise. If you missed the nitty gritty about what it means to win a honeymoon check that out here. To recap, we won a cruise that left from Malaga, Spain and ended in the Canary Islands on a sail powered cruise line. I’m going to break our trip down into a few posts so it doesn’t get too crazy to read all at once. In this post I’m just going to cover Malaga, Spain and the cruise ship itself, since that’s where it all started. Then I’ll do the actual sailing & Morocco and finally, the Canary…

Flying with a (not so) lap infant

So we recently tackled a major travel journey with our almost 2 year old. We flew to Mexico. With Oliver. As a lap infant. Meaning he didn’t have his own seat on the plane, he was just on our laps. Just like it sounds right? We had done this once before with Oliver, when he was 3 months old. No big deal. This trip he was 20 months old. Big deal.  For those of you who don’t have kids and just enjoy reading mom blogs. Or for those of you who have never flown with a young child, let me fill you in. If they’re under 2 years old airlines…

    Mexico for Christmas

This year we did Christmas a little different. Mauricio and I had talked about it many times before, but this year we actually gifted ourselves a vacation for Christmas. We had two invitations to go to the same area on the same week in Mexico, the week before Christmas. My best friend graduated nursing school and booked a vacation in Cozumel to celebrate and our niece decided she wanted to go on vacation in Cancun instead of doing a big quinceanera. It seemed like the absolute perfect opportunity. We decided to take them both up on their offers and do 3 days with each of them. We booked our rooms…

    Winning a Honeymoon

Four years ago when Mauricio and I got engaged and started wedding planning the most amazing thing happened and we won a honeymoon! Here’s how that went down. I was all over the internet looking at wedding ideas and such, as many newly engaged people are,  and I found weddingvibe.com. This site was chock full of giveaways. Everything from personalized napkins to wedding toppers to videographers. They had so many little giveaways going and every time you entered one you got another entry into their grand prize giveaway for a honeymoon. They did two honeymoon giveaways per year and this one was for a cruise. So you better believe I…

    Road Trip/Lagoon

Okay everyone. I know it’s been a long time since I’ve updated you all, but I’ve been busy soaking in the summer with my 1 year old! This summer was 100% different than last summer. Oliver loves being outside, swimming, throwing rocks in the lake, you name it. And I won’t lie, it’s been pretty hard for me to stay inside too. We’ve been busy exploring the world and tackling life with a one year old. Two of the major things we tackled this summer was a road trip as well as an amusement park. Road trips with Oliver last year were easy, we just plopped him in his seat…

    Oregon Coast & Portland

I recently tackled a tough but very necessary mom thing. I left Oliver and Mauricio home and went on a trip. Just me. Well technically me and my best friend. It was her spring break and she needed/deserved a getaway and I got to tag along. She had decided on visiting Portland and the Oregon Coast, and I was just happy to go anywhere. Typically Mauricio and I will do a vacation at least once a year. But we don’t have anything major planned for this year, so when I had this opportunity I couldn’t pass it up. I booked my flights and was all excited to go. Then I…
