    Postpartum-Round 2

So I’m technically still in the postpartum stage, or fourth trimester as some lovingly call it. Does it ever actually end? But I wanted to recap some major postpartum differences for me this time around. I shared a lot about postpartum when I first started this website, but this time around has been way different for me. I want to share again to highlight how different pregnancies are, even within one person. I don’t think there is such a thing as a “normal” pregnancy or postpartum time because they are all so different. Recovering from having Genevieve who was 7 lbs 9 oz was WAY different from recovering from Oliver…

    Genevieves Birth Story

I’m happy to say that I’m no longer pregnant. We finally have our sweet girl and our family feels so complete now. I want to share Genevieves birth story for the same reasons I shared Olivers. I don’t want to forget what happened and I think some people can benefit from reading birth stories to help prepare for their own deliveries. Also I know some people just like hearing birth stories. I know because I’m one of them now that I’ve had babies of my own. This delivery was so much different from my first delivery in so many ways. I won’t spend the whole time comparing them, but if…

The second half of the second pregnancy

Well this pregnancy is almost over, so I guess it’s time for an update. Writing this I’m 38 weeks pregnant and in about one week I’ll have our baby so I figure I should get this pregnancy story wrapped up before she’s here. If you just did the very simple math on that and thought “wait aren’t pregnancies 40 weeks?” Yes, yes they are. But this time around we’ve decided that I’m going to get induced at 39 weeks. Last time I went over my due date by a few days, but this time my doctor is comfortable with inducing me at 39 weeks and I won’t lie, when he…

The first half of the second Pregnancy

So in case you haven’t heard the news, we’re having another baby! I wanted to share a bit about this pregnancy so far because I am already 20 weeks and it has been a very different pregnancy from my first. This pregnancy is flying by and I still have so much to do before this second bebe joins us, including transforming our cluttered office into a bedroom. But for now, I just want to share the differences I’ve experienced with baby #2 so far. The first major difference is how fast we got pregnant this time. It took us months to get pregnant with Oliver, so I was prepared for…

    Postpartum

I’m not going to lie, this is the hardest of these three posts to write. One because it’s probably the most personal and two because I’ve seen a lot of posts about the postpartum experience and how difficult it is and how many unexpected things happen to you after you give birth. I’ll just lay it out there, this isn’t one of those posts. I knew what I was getting into before I got pregnant. I knew there was a very good chance I would be left with stretch marks and it might take me years to get the baby weight off. I knew postpartum depression was very real and…

    Olivers Birth Story

When Oliver finally decided to make his appearance, he really took his time. It definitely wasn’t some quick “all of a sudden our baby is here” type situation. I want to share all about this for two reasons. I believe it’s helpful for people to read different stories to help prepare for what they may be in for. But I also want to share it because even though Oliver is only 8 months old, I feel like I’m starting to forget details about his grand entrance. Even writing it I had to check with Mauricio to see if I had the timeline right. I didn’t want lots of people in…

    Pregnancy

I figure I’ll break down having a baby into three posts: Pregnancy, Birth Story and Postpartum. I know there’s some people that absolutely love reading birth stories and I do think it’s helpful to read some real people tell their stories so all the first time moms out there can get some idea on what they’ve gotten themselves into. If you’re not one of those people and it can be a bit TMI to read about, you don’t have to read these next few posts, I totally understand. Honestly, before I got pregnant and even up until I gave birth, I wasn’t interested in pregnancy or birth stories and I…
