30 things I would tell 20 year old me

For those of you that don’t know, I recently turned 30. My birthday is nestled right in between my kids birthdays in the busiest birthday month in my family. And I don’t mean just my immediate family. I mean cousins, nieces, in laws, April is very busy. But with my immediate family aside from myself, Oliver turned 4 this year and Genevieve is about to turn 1. As my husband puts it “April is a very expensive month here”.  To start off April, Oliver turned 4 and had his first birthday party where we invited friends he made in preschool instead of just friends whose parents we knew who also…

    2021 Reflection. 2022 Goals.

Okay. This year has definitely been my worst for blog posts. I’ll be honest, it’s been hard finding time to sit down and blog with two kids. I have two posts that are part way done and another two or three that I’ve literally had on my mind since I started this page 3 years ago. Yes you read that right, 3 years. I don’t have nearly as much on here as I thought I would 3 years ago, but every year when the website comes up for renewal, I can’t let it go. I want so badly to be better at keeping up with it that I tell myself…

    Olivers 3rd Birthday

This past weekend we had Olivers first birthday party. I don’t mean he turned one. I mean it was the first time he’s had an actual birthday party. He really turned 3 on the 3rd, his golden birthday. So I wanted to make this year special for him. We had never done a real party for him before, but this year he has friends to invite over and was just way into the idea of his own birthday. Also it was on a Saturday with awesome weather so it just seemed perfect for a party anyways.  The reasons we hadn’t done a party for Oliver before are pretty simple. For…

    2020 Reflection. 2021 Goals.

Well, 2020 happened. It’s been quite a year and it’s easy to get sucked in to the whole “2020 sucked” mentality. I know it’s been a tough year for a lot of people, whether it’s been job loss, sickness, not seeing loved ones ect. But when I sit down and reflect on the last year personally, it was a pretty good year. I’ll get into my goals in a bit, but I want to take a minute and highlight everything good that happened this year for us. If you’re looking for a Christmas card mailer year recap, you’ve come to the right post. I just think it’s extra important this…

    Spring/Summer recap

I feel like most of my posts begin with an explanation as to why I haven’t posted for a while. And here we are again. I think I’ll bypass a lengthy explanation and just say, it was summertime with a 2 year old. I was busy. That being said, the renewal for my site is coming up and I have been debating whether to keep it or not. I know most of you lovely readers are my family, and I enjoy that you take the time to read my ramblings. I just wasn’t sure if it was worth keeping if I’m only going to post twice a year. But fear…

    2019 Reflection. 2020 Goals.

It’s a new year! If you were with me last year, you might recall that I’m not a huge believer in “New Year’s Resolutions”. But I do take the new year as an opportunity to reflect back on the year and see if there is anything I would like to change in the upcoming year.  For 2019 I had two goals, become less technology dependent and less wasteful. Overall I think I did alright on those goals. In the summer months I was definitely on my phone way less. I took in the day around me and wasn’t constantly checking my phone all day. But as it got colder and …

    Road Trip/Lagoon

Okay everyone. I know it’s been a long time since I’ve updated you all, but I’ve been busy soaking in the summer with my 1 year old! This summer was 100% different than last summer. Oliver loves being outside, swimming, throwing rocks in the lake, you name it. And I won’t lie, it’s been pretty hard for me to stay inside too. We’ve been busy exploring the world and tackling life with a one year old. Two of the major things we tackled this summer was a road trip as well as an amusement park. Road trips with Oliver last year were easy, we just plopped him in his seat…

    Oliver’s 1st Birthday

I’m getting behind on what’s going on with us, so this post is a whole month late. The weather has been so nice that in our spare time I like to be outside instead of inside on the computer. So don’t take my whole “a post every 2 weeks” thing to seriously for the fun summer months. Last month my baby turned 1! We didn’t do some big party for him. Some people do, and that’s totally fine. But we just didn’t see the point of going all out for a party he won’t remember. I wanted to share some of what I did do to celebrate his big day…

    Self Love

You guys. I have been feeling good lately. Like really good. So I decided to try and get motivational for you all and try and make you feel a bit more confident and in love with yourself. I don’t mean in some creepy way. But I bet you’ve all heard that saying that you can’t really love someone else until you learn to love yourself. I believe that you can love someone at any time, but once you start loving yourself, your love for that other person will only grow and be even deeper. I believe this because I’ve felt it in the last few weeks for myself and it’s…

    Not A New Year’s Resolution

With the New Year, I think a lot of people feel the need to come up with a resolution of some sort. To me, resolutions don’t work. We all kind of know that don’t we? How many jokes and memes have you seen about not keeping a New Years resolution longer than a week, tons right? There’s a reason for that, it’s because it’s the truth. I don’t want to discourage anyone from keeping their New Year’s resolution, but this is my take on a better way to improve yourself year to year. I was curious where the New Year’s resolution tradition even came from. So I did some googling.…
