• Road Trip/Lagoon

Okay everyone. I know it’s been a long time since I’ve updated you all, but I’ve been busy soaking in the summer with my 1 year old! This summer was 100% different than last summer. Oliver loves being outside, swimming, throwing rocks in the lake, you name it. And I won’t lie, it’s been pretty hard for me to stay inside too. We’ve been busy exploring the world and tackling life with a one year old. Two of the major things we tackled this summer was a road trip as well as an amusement park. Road trips with Oliver last year were easy, we just plopped him in his seat…

  • Baby Led Weaning

Oliver is 14 months old now, and he eats like a champ! We are pretty lucky with him in general, but eating has always been a breeze. Oliver was exclusively breastfed until he was 6 months old, then I started introducing foods, while still breastfeeding. When Oliver was about 9 months old, my milk supply dropped substantially and we started using formula. I was fortunate and happy that I was able to breastfeed for the first 6 months, but I didn’t feel any shame with switching to formula, to be honest they only downside of it was the cost. Oliver continued eating more and more solids, to the point where…

  • Oliver’s 1st Birthday

I’m getting behind on what’s going on with us, so this post is a whole month late. The weather has been so nice that in our spare time I like to be outside instead of inside on the computer. So don’t take my whole “a post every 2 weeks” thing to seriously for the fun summer months. Last month my baby turned 1! We didn’t do some big party for him. Some people do, and that’s totally fine. But we just didn’t see the point of going all out for a party he won’t remember. I wanted to share some of what I did do to celebrate his big day…

  • Oregon Coast & Portland

I recently tackled a tough but very necessary mom thing. I left Oliver and Mauricio home and went on a trip. Just me. Well technically me and my best friend. It was her spring break and she needed/deserved a getaway and I got to tag along. She had decided on visiting Portland and the Oregon Coast, and I was just happy to go anywhere. Typically Mauricio and I will do a vacation at least once a year. But we don’t have anything major planned for this year, so when I had this opportunity I couldn’t pass it up. I booked my flights and was all excited to go. Then I…

  • Self Love

You guys. I have been feeling good lately. Like really good. So I decided to try and get motivational for you all and try and make you feel a bit more confident and in love with yourself. I don’t mean in some creepy way. But I bet you’ve all heard that saying that you can’t really love someone else until you learn to love yourself. I believe that you can love someone at any time, but once you start loving yourself, your love for that other person will only grow and be even deeper. I believe this because I’ve felt it in the last few weeks for myself and it’s…

  • ER Visit

Alright guys. I’m going to share with you probably the worst day/afternoon I’ve ever had as a mom. It’s one of the reasons I had a few week gap in posting. It’s also one of the reasons I’m worried I’m going to turn into a helicopter mom that never lets her kid do anything without me. Also fair warning, this post is sad. I mean it’s about a baby getting hurt, not one of my happier topics. A few weeks ago I had to take Oliver to the emergency room. I experienced the worst feeling in the world as a parent. But don’t worry. There is a happy ending. My…

  • Ciudad Juarez

Okay, I’m sorry I missed a few weeks, but life happened. Also I’m going back to a trip post. But this is a trip we did with Oliver, and his first international trip, so its mom and travel related. When Oliver was 3 months old, we went to Mexico! Now, it wasn’t the glorious Mexico beach vacation you are thinking, we went to Mauricios hometown, Ciudad Juarez. He hadn’t been there in 12 years and we were finally able to make the trip and see some family. Mauricio has 2 brothers, 2 nieces and 2 (twin) nephews. In the 8 years we had been together I hadn’t met any of…

  • Babies and animals

So I decided to jump back to some mom topics for a bit. I loved reflecting on some trips, but it made me look at maps and flights way too much. Now I want a vacation even more! While I was sitting dreaming about where I want to go next I saw Oliver crawl over to Dude, tug on his ear and crawl away. Dude didn’t react at all and it made me so happy that he is so patient with Oliver. While our animal-baby relations may not be 100% perfect, I thought it would be worthwhile to explain how we brought Oliver home to the animals and how we’ve…

  • Puerto Rico-The Island

It’s Puerto Rico round 2! This trip was so different from our first. We visited Puerto Rico for the second time in January of 2017. We called it our honeymoon even though it was months after our wedding, and we technically did another honeymoon later in the year. More on that in a later post. This time around we spent basically no time in San Juan. We rented a car and explored the island and fell even more in love than we already were from the first trip there two years before. Settle in if you’re wanting to read this whole trip, it’s a long one, but I didn’t want…

  • San Juan, Puerto Rico

Two years ago, almost to the date, we were on our favorite island, Puerto Rico! 🇵🇷 We’ve been to Puerto Rico twice, once in 2015 and again in 2017 for 1 week each time. We did two very different trips and I’m going to split them into two posts, otherwise it would be really long and I might skip over some good stuff. Many people don’t realize it, or maybe they do since Hurricane Maria, but Puerto Rico is a US Territory. This means that traveling there is just like traveling to any US state. You can go there without a passport and you don’t have to have a visa…
